the wedding dress

is a 2001 made-for-tv movie.

synopsis:
When Hannah Pinkham's fiancé writes he's finally shipping home, her mother makes a fairy tale wedding dress, but while she's fitting it the knock on the door is not him, but the dreaded officer-messenger. Years later she sends it to her nephew, photographer Travis Cleveland, but his model-bride Cass only pretends to like it to get rid of his loyal assistant. After he walks off with it, his car gets stolen with the dress in it... And it keeps passing on from person to person, but will anybody actually get married in it or does it just keep bringing bad luck to couples?

i have seen this film when it was first shown on tv so many years ago, but it probably didn't make a lot of impression on me as i don't remember anything about it.

it's too cold for an outdoor wedding or photo shoot it makes me wonder about the sanity of these people or if any of the wedding party got sick afterwards.

thank you so much for your kind visits and comments and your generous faves on the last few days' photos; they are much appreciated.

we had a grand time today with the two grandsons. their parents have found jobs out west in calgary and they will leave at the end of the month, which makes today a really sad day also. they didn't want to do any activities, just laze around our two apartments. i made sure i took a few portrait shots of the boys. we treated them to a nice italian dinner before taking them home. we will still see them one more time before they leave.
Great dialogue S. Wonderful image.

Lovely photo. As I am your Get Pushed partner I challenge you to take a montage. I know you can't use Photoshop but the good thing about montages is you don't always need Photoshop - you can print off up to 3 or 4 photos, place them together and rephotograph them. I hope you can return the favour by challenging me to something - I have trouble with getting people to pose for portraits and am not fond of selfies.

The B&W makes this a very vintage looking photo although 2001 isn't that far back,............is it? Interesting story line.

So sorry to hear about the boys. It is so much more difficult when they are far away! Glad you got some time and memories with them today.

Sorry to hear about the grand kids leaving for so far away. this has a decidedly vintage feel to it. Is it one of your older photos from Manila?

Ok, well, I may not be able to figure out the Toy Group but the plot of this silly movie has stuck with me!! I don't remember the part about the car getting stolen though. Anyway the dress ends up getting passed around from woman to woman through a series of unusual circumstances. Each time the dress is treasured, but it is also altered. Eventually it ends up in the studio of an artist who we find out is the mother of Travis' assistant. She (the daughter/assistant) has been wandering around the countryside, broken hearted that Travis has married the (snobby and spoiled) Cass. When she sees the dress ( a mere replica of its former hand-beaded beauty) she recognizes it immediately and wonders how it ended up here. Her mother persuades her to restore it to its former glory and return it to Travis. Once it is finished she brings it to Travis' studio, but is trying to leave it before Travis returns from a photo shoot. But as Fate and Hallmark writers would have it, he returns before she can leave. However, in the end it is revealed that Travis never married Cass, and that all the women who have since worn the dress at their weddings are somehow connected to Travis and/or his dress-repairing assistant. The final scene has them all happily witnessing the marriage of Travis and (I think her name is Chloe or Zoe). Ahhhhh- Hallmark happiness!!

So on to the picture- very nice, simple and nostalgic. A good reflection of the movie without the sap.
