it has been snowing since early this morning and more white stuff has accumulated on top of the pile of hardened snow. lots of accidents on the highway and lots of cars around town that were either stuck in the snow or wouldn't start. it's not really cold, i was walking with my bare hands holding the camera after i came out of the gardens and my hands were okay. tomorrow will be another story though as it will be colder once again.
i went to the allen gardens to check out on the spring flowers but there are no spectacular arrangements yet aside from a few tulips here and there, and lots of cyclamens and a few amaryllis. walking back to the subway i saw these dark clouds. they are more menacing in reality and i just couldn't bring it out in post. i wanted it to be my 'dramatic' light shot but i suppose it would have to be the 'soft' light then. this is outside the main conservatory.
thank you for your kind views and comments; know that they are truly appreciated.
Aren't these beautiful old glass conservatories an invitation to step back in time, enjoy warm temperatures and relish the fragrance of the leaves and flowers? All that's better with "more" of course, but it must have felt absolutely delicious on a cold, snowy day!
@Weezilou - true! i thought i was in the islands when i went through the doors. camera didn't come out until at least 15 minutes. i just chatted with some old(er) ladies on the bench before i started going around shooting. thank you, louise. much appreciated.
Every time I hear about how bad the snow is you're the first person I think of! It looks so beautiful in pictures but I know it must be dreadful for you! This is a terrific capture how beautiful it can be!
@grammyn - today, it wasn't so bad because the temps are a bit friendly. it's the next days or so that would be dreadful. i am ready to play a banjo on my knees with susana whoever she is, you know! :-) thank you, my love.
hi summerfield. I am your get pushed partner this week. It is kind of difficult to find something you haven't done! I challenge you to do a photo or photos where you shoot directly down into or onto your subject. If you can do it from up high all the better! Thanks!
What a beautiful building. We don't really have the need for these stunning conservatories since our weather doesn't get cold enough. I do like the clouds and I can imagine how dramatc they must have looked!
That was pretty optimistic of you to expect flowers at this time of the year. Love this building and all the snow piled up around it. Frankly, everytime I would get my hands out of my gloves to take photos I felt like I would get frostbite....they literally hurt at the end of the shoot!
