this is the living room of the penthouse suite of the hart house hotel in medina, new york. on the lower shelf of the left step ladder are the books that were in yesterday's photograph. the digital television is the only obvious 'modern' piece of furniture/appliance in this antiqued living room.
taking an idea from @olivetreeann i pasted on the tv screen a shot of manila bay sunset which i took during my 2011 visit to the old country.
thank you for your kind visits and comments, and once again for sending yesterday's photo of faust and other books to the pp (however brief its stint on pp may have been) and the tp; know that your opinions and tastes are all appreciated.
I see that Ann @olivetreeann has got the right Idea! I can see that wonderful 365 photo on the wall! How many people are you expecting for dinner round this table ... and what are you serving! Very 'apartment' look windows here!
They say imitation is the highest form of flattery. Wow! Looks pretty good there- although maybe Brian would like the logo of the meadery on it instead! hehe
Good call! It's a beautiful photo! Also following Ann's idea, I wanted to put my "Mandala" photo in a frame, but the only room in the house that is "somewhat modern" in colouration is the bathroom that Ken decided needed painting after I was bed-ridden and couldn't lend more oversight. I'm still trying to find a way to either go with it or make plans for a makeover early next year! I'm curious to give this idea a go!
OK, I love this room, but the TV seriously bothers me!! They have gone to such great lengths to have this vintage/rustic look with everything, the step ladders, that farmhouse size wooden table, the exposed pipes, everything is in congruence except for that damn TV, and your sunset, as beautiful as it is, just draws more attention to it! So, my two cents' worth, they should get some barn door hardware, and have a sliding rustic door on it, something that can be drawn to the right when they need to watch the TV, and then, hide it the rest of the time! Getting off my soapbox now... ;-))
@panthora - i agree with you. that's my first thought, too, when i entered the room. the tv was just out of place. you should come the next time we go there. :-) so you coming to nova scotia?
