water for elephants by summerfield

water for elephants

this is the courtyard of the building across from our new office. the fountain is shut down on fridays and might not be in operation for long due to the cold weather. see here for a previous shot of the fountain: http://365project.org/summerfield/365-still/2013-02-27

a small (read: large) family of elephants roam the commerce court yard. the elephant sculpture is called "Tembo, Mother of Elephants" and is a bronze statue of a mother and two baby elephants. lined up single file, the mother elephant leads her offspring to water: the fountain in the middle of the courtyard. it was completed in 2002 by Derrick Stephan Hudson, and is currently on loan from the L. L. Odette Foundation of Windsor, Ontario.

so the new office has better downward views and my lakeview now includes traffic on the highway. well, i'm not complaining. except that i now have to walk to the next building to get to the subway.
Fabulous sculpture how lucky you are to have this view at work

I've seen these elephants many times but never from this angle. Great shot!

these elephants roam? wouldn't that be wonderful. Looks like they are very elegant statues - great to have the overhead view.
