abundance

this morning, i finally managed to drag my arse and take a walk around the neighbourhood. the sun was out, the sky was blue, not a cloud to spoil the view. i passed by a maple tree with its leaves all red and the branches were low. i had wanted to find some red leaves to send to a friend who said she had not seen a red leaf in person. i kept taking photos, then i moved on to a much taller tree with yellow leaves. then i thought i'd check one shot that i thought was spectacular. heartbreak! the screen said "no picture". pressing all the buttons and i was starting to panic that maybe the olympus is croaking. well, what do you know, after a while the screen said "no sd card". i screamed to high heavens the vilest cuss word i know. good thing that students are all at home these days or i'd be a very bad example to them.

so i went back to my apartment, and took a new sd card. i had to google how to format the card for this camera. then i went out again. bus arrived as i was coming out of the building ergo, i had to walk 3 minutes to get to the main road, which was okay as i desperately needed the exercise anyway. on the way, almost got stung by a bee, or maybe it was a wasp. i killed the bloody thing, and before you judge me, it was a choice between the bee being dead or me being dead. i chose me.

i decided to stop by the church office and hand in my donation that i kept stalling for weeks. the bus was a minute ahead so i had to walk down. thankfully, at the church, there was this tree laden with these red berries. took a few pics when my stomach growled. i forgot that i put milk in my cereal this morning. that sent me promptly home.

here's a counter opinion to yesterday's great barrington declaration. https://www.ctvnews.ca/health/coronavirus/latest-call-for-herd-immunity-draws-scorn-from-public-health-experts-1.5137679 (thanks, @northy)

Your shot of a Mountain Ash is wonderful to see since mine suffered irreparable damage from the hail this summer and consequently had no berries left for the migratory birds this fall!! Lovely shot and distressing narrative!!

A delightful capture of these gorgeous berries against that lovely sky. Your story telling is second to none, always so entertaining.

My goodness, getting that shot was quite the ordeal! Hopefully your friend appreciates the effort, it is indeed a lovely image!

Such beautiful vibrant colors in this photo. It sounds like a lot of effort with into this shot. I’m glad you chose your self over the bee.It is always a pleasure to read your descriptions. You provide so much entertainment!

An interesting counterpoint To the great Barrington paper

They are such a beautiful, red. Methinks it's better to sacrifice the bee :)

It's always a toss up...which do I enjoy more - your capture or your narrative??? Both are great!!!

Colorful berries in those trees. Glad it was only an SD card.

I have read both articles. No wonder we're all so confused. the experts can't even agree. I'm going to side on the stay home, mask up if I go out and limit my contact to others. I'd rather be safe than sorry.
