back in the early 90's i learned how to cross stitch. my bestie who was still in the old country then asked me to find her the "lavender & lace" cross stitch patterns. the patterns i found were so lovely i got intrigued. however, they were also very intricate and although i passed my crochet and embroidery projects with reasonable grades in grade school home economics, i didn't think i could do the L&L projects. so i bought me an advanced intermediate project (whatever that meant) of birds and flowers as my first project. i got hooked and i've done so many projects after that. i made this about a year after my first project and i decided i'd keep it. even spent quite a tidy sum for the framing.
now that i am older i've decided that scaling down is in order. i'm searching for a young couple who are starting a family and a home. i would like to gift them with this. perhaps you know of any deserving couple or family?
this is for week 13 of the 52 captures challenge which is "something you (i) made".
it's the last day of march -- unbelievable, isn't it? as from tomorrow, i shall punish myself again with a month-long challenge for that one subject april thing. my problem is i haven't the slightest idea what subject i shall feature in my album. although i'm sure, like in the two past years, i would have a last-minute idea.
A long time ago (I cannot remember how long) my husband gave me a cd-rom with a cross-stitch design program. It's called "Jane Greenoff's cross stitch designer Gold". I have made little and small patterns (you can even input photos and pictures!) and still use it!
It is easy to tell that lots of time was put into this very complicated project. I did this for a while myself but like every other craft I have attempted I eventually got bored with it and no longer do it. I probably still have supplies lurking throughout the house somewhere. Beautiful photo of some thing you made.
