"...I could be happy with you by my side
If I could forget her, but it's my pride.
Yes it is, yes it is.
Oh, yes it is, yeah.
Please don't wear red tonight,
This is what I said tonight.
For red is the colour that will make me blue,
In spite of you, it's true,
Yes it is, it's true.
Yes it is, it's true."
(Lennon, 1965, from the album "Past Masters Volume 1")
In his 1980 interview with Playboy, John Lennon described this song as an attempt to rewrite "This Boy" (the style of the song) that "didn't quite work". "Yes It Is" was released as the B-side of "Ticket to Ride" in both the UK and the US.

one would think that "yesterday" would have been a good fit here as it is one of the beatles' more famous songs that starts with the letter "y". but "yesterday" is so cliché and we don't want another song nagging on our brains. so, i chose this little lennon ditty. all day i've been listening to beatles songs on CD while i was trying to clean my apartment. now that i have to do my 365, i've switched to the more mellow piano music and hopefully, it will also rock me off to an early sleep.
i went around yesterday and this morning with my camera but my area doesn't look that exciting during this time of the year, although the parks and gardens still have the daisies and similar flora but generally everything's going dead and brown. at the park near the entrance to the beaches the trees are starting to turn colours. the weekend had been very pleasant, no jackets required yet; tomorrow might be a different story.
what a beautiful shot. this is one song i am not familiar with at all, although i keep trying to place it, it just does not come to mind. off to utube i go. now that you mention it, i have no project in mind at all for october - perhaps i will simply post whatever i want!
glad you took a different route from the expected "yesterday for Y" -- you always take the more creative, the path less traveled -- I love it! Love this picture!
@danig - thanks, DG. that park has a few trees that's turned red already. others are just starting to turn golden. we had warmer than usual temperatures the last two days but now we have winds and it's getting cooler so maybe by the weekend, the scenery would've changed.
@bkbinthecity - thank you. enoy the nice weather while it lasts. i heard it's raining there today :-) i mean :-(
@steeler - thank you, howard. my town isn't exactly like the cape but we do have a great nature's show here during this time of the year!
@catsmeowb - thank you, camille. john lennon tended to write songs that were more poetic/lyrical unlike mccartney who wrote 'commercial' songs which catered more to the general audience. i'm going to be quite busy preparing for my trip to manila in the beginning of november so maybe i will do a project on a weekly basis rather than the whole month. so many things to do, so little time!
@cscecil - yay! you're back. does that mean the painting's done? did you also have good weather there in the midwest? thank you, CS. glad you're back.
You've got some great colors going there, summerfield! This is beautiful and I can feel that crisp air! Not so bad listening to the Beatles all day. Great tunes!
@sunnygreenwood - thank you, anne. i have no project planned for october yet :-) did you have nice weather in ottawa, too?

@bkbinthecity - yes, you are right, i was thinking of calgary. i saw it on the weather channel. sorry.
@roth - thank you, sue. pretty soon it will be just bare branches and blue sky. yay for winter!
