Yesterday, for my birthday, we went to some lovely gardens not far from here but which we hadn't heard of until a couple of weeks ago. It's a large estate with a beautiful house in the middle of the Herefordshire countryside. The gardens are only open to the public a couple of times a year and one of those times is for a spring plant fair which, this year, happened to be on my birthday. We bought lots of plants and then went for a long walk around the gardens. They're not formal gardens, more parkland than garden. There were lots of benches around, made from fallen trees and every one had animals carved into it. A very talented and skilful wood carver had done this. They were just amazing.
Lovely way to spend your birthday..
