Owning your own shop has it's pros and cons. One of the disadvantages is that when all the other shops are open, so are you...... so you miss out on a lot of retail therapy.
So when we do get some time off, we actually enjoy being the other side of the counter for a change.
One of our favourite places is TK Maxx. We like it because every TK Maxx store has a section which we refer to as "the weird shit department." Here you will find all manner objet d'art that leave you wondering about the sanity of the designer.
Today we found such wonders as a large tower of ugly dogs standing on each others backs in bright shiny chrome, A large plastic stags head wall decoration tastefully finished in black flock, A giant misshapen Buddha lamp that makes him look like Widow Twanky and a spikey wooden corkscrew who's use would inevitably involve a visit to A&E and multiple stitches...... it is a veritable cornucopia of misshapen or broken ornaments, chipped crockery and items that could have only been the product of a terminally deranged mind.
We seldom buy anything but enjoy perusing the items just for the laugh.
However, here is Kitty walking away with a couple of packs of ground coffee. One hazelnut flavour and the other almond and vanilla. Very nice too.
On the subject of tasteless random crap, are Trago Mills still trading? A highlight of any trip to Cornwall used to be their awful adverts and jingle on Pirate FM. I haven't heard them the last few times I was down your way.
