I lost count of how many photos I have taken of this lighthouse long ago. It is on my doorstep so is an easy shot. I don't have to travel miles over rough terrain to get to it. I suppose I have taken about 1,000 shots of it over the years........ but it still keeps surprising me with new angles, backdrops, lighting.
It has an interesting history as it was the first lighthouse in the UK to be powered by electricity. In fact Mevagissey was the first village in the UK to have electric street lamps. They were powered by a small power station that generated electricity from burning pilchard oil.
This is the point in the conversation where everybody starts to think I'm just making it all up..... but I swear it is all true, you can look it up if you don't believe me.
The lighthouse has become an old familiar friend who I have become very fond of. :)
I to have a thing for light houses, after living by the beach for a short time.
Great shot.
