King Henry VIII built a lot of both Including this one at St. Mawes and Pendennis castle on the other side of the Fal estuary at Falmouth. They were built in the 16th centuary as artillery emplacements to protect the important and strategic Carrick Roads anchorage against attack from France and Spain.
The boats however were built in more recent times. :)
