A gray, damp winter day in Chicago but not that cold so I decided to take photographs of street life in the Loop (the downtown) with my 50mm. Pictured is one of the city's street musicians -- he's often across from the Art Institute in what is usually a very busy area. Today's weather meant the streets were fairly empty.
I love so many elements of this photo, from the composition and the way it shows off the sax to the way he is focused on what he is doing to the worn sax case to the shortening can he is sitting on to the double hat (one for warmth and one for the look) . . . all those details add up to give you a truly great street shot of a cold day in Chicago.
