Reflection and Symmetry by taffy

Reflection and Symmetry

Several of the Project 365 photographers I follow have been sharing examples of symmetry and of reflection. I thought it would be fun to try to combine the two but do something more abstract. This is what came out of it -- it involved using two different photos and (since I have not yet learned Photoshop), using an iPad app and going between that and Aperture. Thanks to Danielle (@danitech) for the link to the backgrounds. Instead of a spoon, I used a spoon-ish fork.
Love it! Really clever idea to use two different images, works really well.

@danitech @lakruijf @gailmmeek @jankoos @photodude Many thanks! I'm starting to enjoy the processing part of photography -- great fun to do this.

@taffy Yes, there is just so much to it - great fun, but so easy to overdo (well, that's my problem anyway! Lol)

What did you do, and how did you do it?

Very cool abstract! I rarely messed around with processing before 365, but now I love it. I never know when to stop! =)

Very cool! Well- done! You don't always have to use Photoshop. If you find something you like on your iPad then use it, I say!

@dyswis It took a few steps. I started a few days ago, prompted by @danitech's posting of spoons and the URL that she used for the reflection ( http://www.tripwiremagazine.com/2012/07/rainbow-textures-patterns-and-backgrounds.html). Then I took several photos using a steel fork (see http://365project.org/taffy/the-also-ran-ph/2013-03-01 for the one I used then.). Then I exported the two that I ended up using in this photo to my iPad and created a collage with the two photos using PicCollage app. Then, I exported that back into Aperture to do final 'cleanup' of some stray reflections. Finally, saved out that version to upload.
