I'm in Hawaii (Honolulu) for work but one of the great parts of it is being able to stay with my close friend and colleague who lives here. One of her hobbies is music and she's part of a quartet (with her sister and some friends) that plays traditional Hawaiian music for friends, family, and a few others at various events. This is one of her ukeleles, shaped like a pineapple (which doesn't really come through from this angle). Each of her ukes is an interesting shape and fun to try to capture. BTW, Hawaiians were the one who created the ukelele in the 1800s -- though now they are fairly common elsewhere.
Thank you in advance for visiting and commenting. I'm trying to stay up to date with responses and comments, but know I'm going to be further and further behind over the next few days.
Beautiful instrument! I love how the wood also looks like a pineapple too. Great shot! You should check out @maggiemae . She is also a ukelele player and performs with a group in NZ.
Very nice pov and I love the way the uke's decorated too.
Ukeles have become very popular in the UK in recent years with mass groups springing up all over the place.
I love the greens and golds and the pineapple design. Very good idea for the perspective! I love Hawaiian music--although I didn't until I actually went there; it's the perfect music for that place. Now when I hear it, I'm back in Hawaii!
I love Ukes. Although not a Polynesian island New Caledonia does have a lot of people from French speaking Polynesian Islands living here, especially Tahiti. My partner bought me a Uke on her last visit there and I need to find someone to teach me how to play it.
