Not surprising, there are harbors everywhere. A scene like this in the Waikiki area is just an everyday one people walk by and barely notice. To me, it was amazing to see blue sea, beautiful boats, sandy beach, and across the street from that, office buildings and a shopping center. The shots I missed that I wish I could have captured were the barefoot guy walking in bright colored shorts down the street of the business district carrying a large surfboard, and another guy on a bike with his surfboard (longer than the bike) strapped on the side.
I like that you used the shrubs as a blind as we peer in at this amazing harbor. Sounds like some great shots you missed (I hate that) - likely that they will live in your head for many years to come.
@colie@pflaume@kimshots@danielwsc@kwind@topcat@photodude I'm glad you noted the use of the bushes to frame the shot. It's why I chose it to post since it set this shot apart from the others I'd taken of just the boats in the harbor. Daniel - here's hoping our weather continues to warm up -- we're ready for it!
@steampowered Paul, I hope you make it there -- I can imagine the fun shots we'd see you posting!
@jodimuli I found myself thinking the same thing -- what a life they must lead!
@dreamatrix I also liked the lines the masts make -- thanks for commenting on that.
The green shrubs really help emphasize the blue of the water and give a nice sense of you wandering around, peering everywhere. I'm sorry you didn't get those shots of the two surfers, when that happens to me I tell myself 'photograph it with your mind!" and now you've written it down, so you'll remember it. (I would have liked to see it, though)
@anwan Thanks Annette. You're right about how important it is to realize we do have photos in our minds. I hadn't thought about the fact that simply writing it down will at least make it more likely I'll remember when I visit this photo in the future.
