I was taking photos of water drops on a lily that is on its last legs. Then I saw Colie's (@colie) photo which I loved and decided none of mine were that interesting. That led me to working on processing instead, using one of the water drop shots. Here are four results that I liked, but individually weren't as interesting as when I had all four up on the screen. So, I ended up doing a google search for how to make a collage on a mac (my other collages were made using an iPad app) and found CollageIt.com. And this is the result. I'm curious what you think of the various processings. I'm putting one 'normal' shot from today in my other album to contrast with these ( http://365project.org/taffy/the-also-ran-ph/2013-04-08).
@colie@melissapike@darylo@kwind@vskolnik@dtigani Thank you all for encouraging comments on this. And I'm glad the collage resource is helpful, Daryl! There are few settings you'll need to play around with but it's basically very easy. I don't use PS at all yet - I am planning to learn Lightroom as soon as I solve computer space issues.
Taffy, there is something with you and lilies that makes me hit the Fav button! I can't choose a favorite processing because it's the combo of the four that really wows me--although individually they're good too.

Thank you, all! I appreciate your being so positive. The more I look at it, the more I wish I'd either had diagonals with black background, or made them all white. So I think I'll continue to fool around with this. You've been so encouraging!
Love the processing and collage! I don't know if I could separate out one choice of processing from another as I really like them all together like this.
Hi Kim -- that's why I did the collage, actually. I couldn't decide on which one to post so I put the four together. Only today did I think about the collage as a single entity and that's what made me notice the black background on the one version and the three white ones for the others. Now it looks imbalanced to me. Learned something from this exercise about collage-making!
Putting them all together in a collage was a wonderful idea! They compliment each other and make the overall photograph even more impactful. Well done!
so sorry for the late reply! One of the main things I love about the get pushed challenges is being introduced to 365ers that I hadn't come across before; i've looked through lots of your photos and lots of them are stunning!
I challenge you to take a self-portrait (without hiding behind your camera) :)
@smevvy Glad to meet you! I'm sure you did notice I rarely do them. That must be why I get that as a get-pushed recommendation! Just did one a few weeks ago for I think it was 35.
Well done for turning good basics into a stunning collage... It really does help to develop processing skills.... I used to shy away from all,of that, but I would like to understand Lightroom too. Have got a 30 day free trial but don't find it very intuitive, although I know it's good!
@jackie8 Thanks Jackie. I'm fairly new to processing and still use a very basic plug in for Aperture, called Nik Suite. It's helping me learn variations, but it doesn't have the range that I think LightRoom and PS or even PSE have. But, one step at a time! @paulavdmerwe@rachelwithey Thanks Paula and Rachel!
this is fantastic, I really like the collage effect and how you have processed your shot, the outer edge detail is wonderful, and the B&W looks terrific, have to fav this :)
They all look good- I think I like the upper left one most and would like to see the slightest hint of green in it. Great job! Processing is a lot of fun!
@danielwsc Thanks Daniel -- I love being mentioned in the same sentence as Warhol! I was probably unconsciously thinking of soup cans! @steampowered Thanks -- it's the first time I've tried using this particular processing choice and also liked the metallic feel. @fueast Thanks Alison! @wendyhgill Thanks Wendy! I wonder if it stands out since it's the only one on a black background.

@ness50 Thanks for the fav! I appreciate it.
