Thursday morning while packing for the conference in Buffalo, Jim called to me that he could hear the carp mating -- a huge exciting scene on our beach that occurs annually about this time of year. I raced down and spent about a half hour taking photos, only to realize that I overexposed them all -- by a lot, since I had changed the settings the night before to compensate for backlighting and forgotten to change them back. While down on the beach, I also captured this gull eating breakfast (I assume), also overexposed. But, I was able to adjust things with these three photos and create the collage. I'm still working on the carp ones which are taking a lot longer. I liked the lighting on the little sandbar as well as the capturing the gull in motion.
I mostly have had to focus on work, but tomorrow if weather cooperates, we're going to Niagra Falls in the morning! I'm taking photos, trying to comment when I can, but won't have much time to upload. It is fun being 'off-island' for a few days and getting to see friends and colleagues. But looking forward to getting back Sunday.
Well put together, I am so sorry about you settings. In spite of this your collage is wonderful. Different actions for different moments. Great captures. Have a nice weekend in the Falls.
Wonderful captures!! So pleased you were able to save these shots!! Have a great time at Niagra - I visited a few years ago and loved it - especially going on the Maid of the Mist!! I look forward to seeing your shots!!
@pamknowler Thanks Pam. I appreciate your comment! Niagra Falls were amazing -- I was able to go in the morning and go back at night as my hosts lived only 20 minutes away from them. I can't wait to post them (am SOO behind, it feels like at the moment, but hopefully will catch up by tomorrow morning.
I'm so behind in comments and thanking you for your comments. I eagerly read them all (on my phone while traveling) and have enjoyed going through your photos tonite. While I know group thanks can be annoying, I just wanted to let you know how much I value your stopping and viewing -- your comments mean a lot to me, as always!
Great job Taffy - especially working on shots you were not happy with - this is a great capture. I overexposed a lot of my shots at Mt Rainier today - was so mad at myself!
@jankoos Thanks Jan! It was a good lesson to learn, and I got a lot of extra practice with Aperture adjustments. Your shot of Mr Rainier today was superb.
Wonderful capture Taffy--sorry I'm so lame in comments lately. Honestly, I haven't been in front of the computer much--but I've enjoyed your latest shots and look forward to the next six months! :)
@darylo No worries ever re your commenting! You are always so funny, interesting, and insightful in your posts and in your comments. I'm looking forward to the next six as well! Congrats on a successful Part 1!
@elaine55 Thanks Elaine! It is hard to keep up, I think! I'm feeling behind at the moment and we have company through the weekend so I know I'm going to fall further behind too.
