After spending the past couple of hours working on today's photos to decide which to post, I kept going back to one I had taken on Saturday while at Niagara Falls. I decided to play a bit with Color Efex Pro as I liked the components of this shot -- including the four birds that conveniently flew by. I still have two others I will probably post this week. Too much of a good thing perhaps?
Thank you all so very much for your wonderful comments and responses, especially to the Rainbow photo from Saturday which made it to, and then stayed on PP for a few days. And congrats to all who started on January 1 as we cross into the second half of our year on 365.
Oh, last thing...and I did post a shot taken today in the Beaver Island Gardens, in my extras album: http://365project.org/taffy/the-also-ran-ph/2013-07-01
@taffy Taffy, this is an instant FAV! The way the appearance of the water changes as it goes over the falls is beautiful. I really like the composition and POV you picked for this shot.
@annied Annie, thanks so much! @thirdjoe Joe, thanks for the fav! The Falls really provided a lot of opportunity between the two different areas (Horseshoe and Three Sisters), and being there in the morning and again after dark. I could spend the whole week only posting shots from there -- including the bridges we crossed to get to the park site!
Great shot, Taffy. I've been there and was impressed by the sound of the water. That's what I thought of when I saw your photo today. And the amount of water... unimaginable... triljons of liters... Such overwhelming beauty!
It's so funny, this is a spectacular location, the falls are magnificent, just as everything else in this shot (the mist, the composition, tones, texture in the water above the falls, etc.), but the first thing I notice are those birds :D They really couldn't have had better timing to fly over :) Truly amazing capture!
This is so lovely! I've been to Niagara Falls several times, honeymooned there, in fact. I know, such a cliche! But now I wish I'd been into photography then...sigh!
Gorgeous shot of the falls! You captured the beauty and the power of the water so well. Love the the 4 birds were passing through your shot, too. Gives is that extra interest!
The birds add so much to this.! And I can just about feel the spray and hearing the roaring water. The water is such a pretty shade of blue green and so clear. Gorgeous. Fav
@jaynspain Thanks Jayn! It is interesting to me that the birds ended up making such a difference. I have the same shot without them and while it's perfectly fine in a way, it isn't as good as with them -- little things can make a big difference I'm learning.
@olivetreeann I agree -- I have about 3 more and will use as fillers this month, I've decided. With company starting to come in, I'm guessing my time will be limited compared to the luxury of the past few weeks.
@ladydi53 Thanks, Diana. Yes, this is the U.S. side -- so we were looking at Horseshoe Falls (this image) from an angle. From the Canadian side, I think you see the most forceful part of the falls directly.

Thanks Elaine, Amanda, Daniel, Alison, Gail, ZL, Jennifer, Rob, and Vanessa! I really appreciate all the support from your comments. Having access to the falls both morning and night was such an amazing privilege! They were so nice to humor me and take me there twice!!

@amandal How cool would it be to recreate the spot where you were as an infant and take a selfie there!
