Exciting phone call from Peter this morning: "Taffy, there are two sunning frogs on a log above our pond -- feel free to come down with your camera." Yay Peter!! Grab camera and decide not to waste any time so take car (less than a half mile away, so that was a little absurd). And there they were! Along with a very cute baby frog sunning on a rock near by. Tonite we were back there for dinner which gave me a chance for a new view of the sunset ( http://365project.org/taffy/the-also-ran-ph/2013-07-02). So all in all, Peter was key to my photo day today!
Thank you all so much for your wonderful positive comments about the Niagara photos. I was excited at the chance to photograph there and to be able to share them in my album. It's made me feel so glad to read your kind comments!
Awesome capture. They are so looking like they are posing. I tried to find some frogs at the lake the other day...could hear them but never found them. The detail and expressions are wonderful!!
@eyesmile@kwind Thanks so much for the faves! It was so nice to have them in the sun, and as still as could be, for well over 15 minutes. They were still there, in fact, when I went back home.
The coloration with the greens and then that bronze in eyes and skin...gorgeous! I am jealous of your frogs. Wish I ever saw any! Just have toads....fav
@espyetta Thanks MaryBeth! We have toads in the yard, but I haven't been able to capture any of them. Peter is an amazing amateur horticulturist who has a magnificent garden. Their pond has fish and a little manmade stream coming into it and the frogs have gone there from the dehydrated frog pond across the road (I think, anyway, as the frog pond no longer is a pond and no longer has frogs!). I know I"ll spend a lot of time there this summer whenever I can do it without bothering them.
@taffy I love ponds! I go to one at a university near the lake house. But the frogs will hop away when I get even a little close. I just hear them...never see them.
@pflaume Thanks Lisa! It was great of him to call. And we were having dinner there tonite so I was able to do a sunset from a new perspective -- Peter was key to my photo day today!
@anazad511 Hi Ana -- truly, my first name is Taffy! My father started calling me this as an infant, after his Irish setter -- as a joke. But it stuck. Is your first name Ana? Sorry if it's off, as I know that's how I've been addressing you.
@steampowered Thanks Paul. That's the frog I was focusing on -- but I tried using an aperture to give me the best depth of field and not lose too much light in the process. I kind of wish I'd changed the ISO so that both would have been as sharp. Oh well...I can't complain as they were so gracious posing and I was lucky to get this in the first place.
Beautifully captured Taffy, we only ever get tiny tiny brown frogs in our garden on occasion so I am very envious you managed to photograph these two. Lovely colours and textures too and an instant fav!
@thirtysevenways Thanks so much TSW! And for taking the time to look at this in the larger format. I do think that shows the colors in a more striking way.
@colie Thanks Colie -- but I loved your frog! @darylo I know -- Peter was so thoughtful to call and let me disrupt their morning to get the shot. I'm one lucky lady!
@steff Thanks so much Steff! I usually just try to take and post photos that I like, so when one hits PP, it is so reinforcing. Thanks for following of course!
BTW, may I ask what is your first name?
@darylo I know -- Peter was so thoughtful to call and let me disrupt their morning to get the shot. I'm one lucky lady!
