This biplane is a regular option for visitors to Beaver Island who want an ariel trip around the coast. The first time it buzzed us, flying low over our beach and a bit close to the treeline for comfort, it was exciting. Many flights later...well...it is loud and a bit karma-disturbing, but impressive nonetheless. I was trying to show just how low he is flying! For get-pushed-52, my partner Wendy, suggested I capture an object, person or animal in mid air (and I thought this would count as he's not exactly high in the sky). This and a bee in flight ( http://365project.org/taffy/the-also-ran-ph/2013-07-15) have been on my bucket list all summer so today was a great photo day. Thanks for the push, Wendy!
Thank you all for the wonderful comments on this photo! It's Museum Week on the island and there must be a lot more tourists as he has been buzzing by about every hour so far this morning! And always that low too...eek! I've not ridden with him as I'm a white knuckle flier so don't see out extra chances to fly - only when I have to do it for work or vacation and afraid of height so being in an open cockpit is my idea of a nightmare! My exception is (not rational I know) I REALLY want to go up in a hot air balloon!!
The colors here are really super! Your comment made me laugh. People who come to visit us often say, "Oh it must be wonderful to look out in your backyard and see the deer!" And we usually reply, "The first month it was nice. Now they're just a nuisance!" Great shot!
@olivetreeann Ann, you're so right -- today Jim called to me from near the beach to take photos because the biplane's pilot was just cruising around the bay in front of our house and I ended up thinking it wasn't worth it. Oh my -- I'm getting too jaded!!
Cool capture! The blue is amazing! He is flying rather low, isn't it he? We had the occasional tourist helicopter flying over our cabin in Glacier. Awesome the first time, but not so much after that!

Thanks so much for such encouraging comments. Now that this landed on PP, I'm trying to be much more tolerant of his buzzing our deck! I decided to print the photo and give it to the guy who owns the plane.
