My plan for today's photo was influenced by the Michael Kenna artist challenge. If you look very very closely in the lower right, sort of to the right of the pink (in color version), you'll see a small boat anchored. My plan was to do a long exposure to have the ripples in the lake disappear, feature the boat, with a light shadow of High Island in the distance. Clean, elegant, and quite wonderful in my head. BUT, instead you have an anything but simple and elegant image because of the huge storm clouds. In this version, I basically ETSOOI (this week's is about sense - sight here?), first in HDR to heighten the details, then in Color Efex to bring out the rich orange tones in the sky and reflected in the water. Poor little boat is just a little spot.

Thank you all for your wonderful comments on the biplane which flew over to PP for a visit and actually spent the whole day there!
And update on the Museum Week art show display -- two of my photos were purchased!!! Both harbor scenes, one with the ferry and one with a ominous sky. Whoo-hoo!!!! I won't have to skulk in on Saturday to pick up all my photos -- at least two will be gone!

Absolutely love this, even with those slightly stormy looking clouds, it's such a magical, peaceful scene - can feel all my troubles melting away just looking at it.
You're on a roll! Saw this one as I was to checking to see if my butterfly was still there and it was! Taffy this is gorgeous- Kenna can wait- this was too beautiful as is to not photograph that way. fav
@archaeofrog It was such a brilliant sunset and then the photo was so washed out that I was determined to try to capture what it felt like to see it in person.
@kazlamont@myhrhelper@linneaphoto Thanks Kazzy, Kathy, and Linnea! @anazad511 Thanks Ana -- I'll try to think positive thoughts and see if it gets there that way! @cathrinemitch Thanks Catherine! It was a thrill to learn Al had posted it in that thread! @wendyhgill Thanks Wendy!
Oh my gosh -- thank you all so much for your wonderful response to this photo! And for the fav's! What a great thing to see before heading to sleep!!
Thanks Ana, Vanessa, and Jayne! I'm excited that you've liked the photo enough to fav!
You are all so encouraging in your comments on this sky shot! And the fav's are very special -- thank you all so much!! It was one of those nights and 14 hours later, the skies are still filled with amazing clouds (which meant it probably was not the best idea to try to play golf as I'm now drinking hot tea and waiting to dry out in the Community Center, using their internet, after just two holes!). Thanks too for the well wishes on the art show sales. I'm still on Cloud 9 over it. It's the last thing I would ever have anticipated when I joined 365.
Thanks so much for such encouraging comments and positive response to this photo! I appreciate it so much -- it was exciting to see it on PP which only happens because of your wonderful support.
Hi Katie -- I added the two steps that preceded this one. First is the SOOC: http://www.flickr.com/photos/taffyraphael/9316477123/
Then the HDR step: http://www.flickr.com/photos/taffyraphael/9316388563/in/photostream/
