Yesterday's snow was followed by cold but sunny weather today. So the falling leaves shone under a thin layer of frost and snow. I took a slightly different route to school today (4 blocks instead of 2) to go by a mailbox and liked the look of this carpet of golden leaves. Used a shallow DoF so the figure would be blurred and the uninteresting library building only a hint of a structure.
For a totally different mood shot from just a few feet to the right: http://365project.org/taffy/the-also-ran-ph/2013-11-12
Liking very much about your POV here and that person walking gives this so much more interest and only the plain view would. You seem to have all the glorious splendid autumn colours going on, we are pass that and this makes me realise how much I miss those gorgeous colours!
Really, really love this picture Taffy.... the sharpness and darkness of the fence with the leading line pointing to the blurry trees tying it right back to the sharply lit carpet of leaves in the foreground....full circle! Your eye is always moving looking for connections between the light and the dark and for repeating forms and shapes. Very nicely done!
Lovely light through the railings., picking up the glint of frost.on the leaves. Thanks for your kind comments about the Cotswolds. It's so refreshing to get away to another part of the country.
Wonderful! I really like your low POV and the focus on the leaves. Great use of DOF to blur the unwelcome background details but keep the interesting elements.
Love this capture which feels like a change-of-seasons weather report, visually shown. The building in the back is nicely blurred but an important part of this composition, I think.
@38dcmoder Dawn, thanks so much for fav'ing this! It's right down the street from where we live, and it captures how the neighborhood has looked the past few weeks.
