First, thank you for your wonderful comments and the memories you've shared in response to my photo of the Dallas Book Depository and surrounding scene. It was so interesting to read where you were and what you remembered.
Photo from today:
The beautiful ice covered trees and flowers this morning, giving me a few minutes of fun photographing before conference stuff started. I was amazed at how the relatively moderate storm paralyzed the city with what, in Chicago, would not be something to blink at. So far tonight, I've had a text from American saying our flight home tomorrow has been cancelled. Then, after being on hold following a 35 minute wait for a call back, the call was dropped. About an hour later, a new text message says the flight is reinstated. Mmmm....tomorrow should be interesting.
Update: Yay! The ice storm led to me having this photo which your comments and favs took to PP!
Oh man,Taffy.Sending positive vibes for timely travel! I love love love your night city scape shots...but I am always excited to see your nature shots! They are always so stunning!this one is no exception!
For me, in Wellington, the temperature hardly go to negative, is very hard to imagine the ice storm and troubles go with it. All I can think is the beautiful picture you could get from it.
@annied Thanks for pointing that out! I was trying to figure out what that shape reminded me of, and all I could think was a frozen clawed hand! Yes, it is definitely Neptune's triton! @taffy I am sorry Dallas is so bad coping with ice storms, but you have not seen bad drivers and paralyzed cities until you get a rainstorm in San Diego! If it is so much as sprinkling we get bumper to bumper traffic snarling up the entry to the freeway. I never understood that. Hope you make it out OK tomorrow; I bet you just want to get back home at this point. Good luck!
Definitely my kind of shot gena, looks like an ice palace. Wonderful orange hokey background and lovely focus. It would look just right for my shot today alongside my teasel! Fav
@jo13@bill_fe Thanks Jo and Bill. Now that I'm home, I'm so glad I was able to be in Dallas during the ice storm. We don't get many of them here and the photography was great fun!
I just spent some time looking at your photos, and really enjoy them. The color in this ice photo is remarkable. Fav. Also, Your comments on my photos and on other people's photos are very constructive, so I would like to follow.
@rvwalker Thanks Ross! I'd love to have you follow my work -- I'll do the same as I've been enjoying your album. I don't know why I hadn't been following you already!
I hope your flight manages to leave on time!
