wonderful architecture! Tried to look up on your other image whether any water is stored here - trying to understand the name - Water towers around here look like alien space ships.
@calm Thanks so much for the fav, Cathy! @rvwalker Thanks Ross -- it's one of my favorite buildings we have. @sianipops Thanks Nia -- no, now it's the place for Hottix and things like that for tourism (across the street anyway at the other building). This one has exhibits here and there. They are really stunning iconic buildings in the city. @cazann Thanks Caz!!
Waaw !! so much detail ,textures and most of all a great architectural feast to the eyes Taffy this is a beautiful capture in a delightful enhancing light and a certain fav for me
Love little castle in the middle of a modern city!!! Wonderful capture. Please stay warm and safe in the "arctic vortex" occurring in so much of the east coast. Scary!
I have never been to Chicago, but this is exactly how I picture the architecture in my mind's eye. Super shot with so much detail to look at and so many wonderful shapes.
What a superb shot of such a stunning building i wonder what it would look like as A3 shot and framed...? I just love the way the sun has made the reds in the brick almost jump out at you, just stunning @taffy
Fantastic detail and beautiful light. I was in Chicago at a conference in 2006 and took a tour of the buildings. I have a photo I took then, but no way as good as this!
@gazbadger Thanks for the info on A3! It's hard to decide which photo(s) to frame from my 365 project. It would be fun to do some kind of rotating thing in a digital frame but I'm such a luddite when it comes to those! @salemslot
A3 is roughly 297mm x 420mm or 29.7cm x 42cm which is the next size up from A4, that is 210mm x 297mm and A3 looks superb when printed and mounted in a frame. We use it at my camera club for exhibitions and for competitions.
Awesome building. Never seen a water tower like this . ( And we still have plenty in our country) Beautiful capture to show us and thanks for the links and explanation
Well they certainly don't build things like this nowadays, more's the pity. I was really surprised to read it was a water tower, I thought it was a religious building of some sort. Beautiful light on that lovely old stone.
