I've been playing with Lightroom and having a blast applying presets and fiddling with the various sliders on my pictures. I'm nowhere as expert as you are though. :-) And you definitely succeeded in making me feel cold just looking at the icicles!
I thought about you and @archaeofrog this morning while watching the news. The weatherman was comparing the low temperatures (with wind chill factors) in Chicago, Milwaukee, and some city in Michigan. The Michigan city was the lowest, but I shivered for you both... At 8:00 am my car thermostat read 68, but by 4:40, it was 44...Virginia Beach may see single digits temps tomorrow... thankfully, no negative signs in front of them. Stay warm!
@archaeofrog@3rdxoff We just got an email saying the university is open tomorrow, but I haven't heard yet about Chicago Public Schools or the other privates in the area. I didn't leave the house today -- hear that in Northern Indiana, you could be arrested for going out!!
It´s a shame you can´t include your own pic in finalist list cos this one would get my wote, I don´t think I´ve ever seen so much edited pic that would still look this cool, love those twinkly blue stars!
Very creative and a great effect. There was a lot of coverage of the cold weather you're enduring on last night's news. Must be really problematic for the elderly and those who can't afford adequate heating.
Stunning capture and processing. I feel worried for all you guys with all the cold you have there. It is repeated every day on the local news networks.
Wow, stunning picture Taffy, love the processing!!
Was in the car listening to the radio and the radio reporter was talking to a man who moved a few weeks ago from Holland to Chicago...they talked about the weather and I realised that I thought: " Oh, Chicago, Taffy lives there..." had to smile because that's what this project does to me after almost a year... a feeling that I've friends all over the world...friends between "quotation marks" ofcourse but still :-))
are you doing well with the extreme cold?
@sjouk That's such a sweet thought but I know exactly how you feel! I hear of events around the world and think about folks I know who are possibly out there photographing (like the floods in England -- and then there were their shots!). I do love the site for that -- the idea of virtual friends, people I'll possibly never meet, but still think of almost daily! It's an unusual situation, I suspect, but one of the reasons I wouldn't want to stop participating after the year ended. I went out today for a meeting up at school (3 block walk) and really bundled up, so it wasn't bad, but there is snow everywhere, it's icy cold, and the biggest concern are for people who are homeless or those who struggle to pay heating bills. Schools are still closed today (but not the university). It's supposed to go up a little bit over the next few days but not above freezing. Thanks so much for your concern!
