Tonite @anwan and @danielwsc and I went to what we hoped would be the exact spot at the exact time for the unique sunset where the sun sets in the middle of the street. As you can see the sunset was probably a brilliant one, but massive fail for the shot we had hoped for with the sun front and center, and we could only see a sliver of the gorgeous sky from our vantage point. Cropped version per suggestion from @darylo: http://www.flickr.com/photos/taffyraphael/13245858865/
Thank you for your wonderful response and comments on my b&w daffodil shot and the greening of the river. They were on PP today and I really appreciate it!

@bella_ss Exactly, Sheralee. Today was one of the days. It's supposed to be centered tomorrow night, and then a little higher on Wed and Thursday, but tomorrow is supposed to be cloudy and I'm not sure about the other two ops. Here's hoping! Thanks for the wonderful comment!
Wow, what an absolutely gorgeous shot, Taffy. I would not consider this a fail. The sun alone is awesome, and the way it lights up some of this buildings and the detail of the buildings. FAV
Never mind that you didn't get the exact hoped-for shot - this is brilliant and so different from any shot I could hope to get, living in a different place!
I do think the sunset is quite spectacular. Just a thought, if you cropped more off the left side so the reflection is more prominent on the right, I wonder if the wonderful sky would be the focal point! I'm drawn to the purples as well (which is great!). Just a thought. :)
I know this isn't the shot you wanted but the contrast in the vibrant yellow sunrise and the cool buildings that are almost neon is lovely nonetheless.
I won 4TH PLACE. I'm so excited I can't stand it. I put a comment in discussion forum and tagged you. Thanks for the encouragement today. I learned a lot from this judge!
@darylo That is totally wonderfully awesome!!!!! I'm so excited for you! What an achievement! I'll go read your post, but if you didn't tell us what you learned, please do so when you get a chance. I know it would be useful. Way to go!!
Stunning light, never mind the full sunset you had in mind. Also, the cropped version is G R E A T! I think I prefer that one!!! Anyway THIS IS A BIG FAV
@mara19500 Thanks Mara! I wish I would have thought of the cropping initially, but I didn't want to lose all the comments and replace it. @darylo was right on.
I have to agree with other comments, that this is really rather good Taffy, you shouldn't be so hard on yourself. Viewed large the colours of the buildings, cars and street are sublime. Fav

Thanks so much for the kind comments on my TT shot -- it was such a thrill, especially because I'd been so disappointed not to see the orb of the sun that I'd lost sight of what the photo did have going for it -- I only saw what it didn't. This was a good learning experience for me as the one I posted yesterday with the sun, I don't think is as interesting as this one was. Hindsight is so useful!
@kchuk Exactly where we were! Just east of Michigan on the bridge in front of the Harris Performing Arts Center. It's one of the only streets where the EL isn't blocking the horizon. I learned that I should have shot at a very fast speed when I took it going to Washington a few days later, as the EL blurred out the horizon in weird ways
Great capture.

Congratulations on the TT! :-)
