We drove up to Beaver Island today in the rain, and it's mostly rained since we got here. But we were very lucky that as we flew over, and when we were picking up stuff at the ferry, the skies cleared. There was a brief moment of sun on the way back to the house, when we drove past these two does. Jim stopped the car (and actually had to back up as we'd passed them). They calmly watched us, including while I rolled down the window and started photographing them. We left before they did. Probably doesn't bode well for their chances during hunting season!
Good wildlife day today -- also saw a few water snakes with full tummies at the boat dock (in extras album), and the turkey family was here to greet us when we got to our house!
Wonderful picture! Brings back memories of Bambi and the Girls who used to hang out under our apple tree in Pittsburgh. We never had a windfall problem. Love how you caught the pose.
What a lovely sight to greet you Taffy, well captured. Why, oh why do some people think they need to kill/main innocent animals for 'sport'. Sport, to me, requires both parties enjoying the pastime. The animals don't enjoy hunting!!
Taffy, you would be surprised how quickly they figure out hunting season. Lovely capture and hope the weather improves for you. Otherwise more time to sort through your Japanese photos.
They look like two statues put in place just to be photographed. Thanks for the comments on my food shot. Since starting this project a week ago I am trying out different things so your comments are encouraging
I like how you said that Jim had to back up, I often use to ask my husband to back up the car. Over here it is hard to stop if you are on main roads or to turn around. I have a photography friend and when we are out together we are always backing up, turning round for that shot, sometimes we have to drive quite a way before we can go back.
Lovely symmetry here, great title.
