Taught til late tonight and no time for photos all day, so instead did some processing on one of the ones from the weekend. This is the portico in front of the original Union Station, looking south.
Wonderful composition and lines! FAV! My dad used to take the train to work from the suburbs to Union Station everyday. We used to love when he would take us downtown. I just loved Union Station! I just remember always being amazed at the architecture!
You've catch a perfect moment blue light from left and yellow laps, lot's of pillars going deeper. Actually this is perfect composition of lightning and objects and textures.
Fantastic composition, Taffy...ideal positioning and use of the pillars and lines to lead to the end of the portico, which you have perfectly positioned in the prime focal spot. This looks so good in colour, but I am sure it will make a fantastic B&W as well, really accentuating the repeating forms of the pillars and ceiling blocks.
What a super shot Taffy, you are such a talented photographer. I think you capture what the architect intends us to see but we sometimes miss (if that makes any sense!) Fav.
@briggsy Thanks David. For this one, I don't think I used lens correction (I think I just did HDR using photomatix), but when I do, I use PTLens (PT Lens maybe) -- it's inexpensive and easy to use, intuitive, and words as a add-in to Aperture and other processing programs. I use it alot as it allows you to adjust horizontally, vertically, rotate, and a slider for scale.
@taffy Thanks for the insight and sharing another wonderful image. I have been reading about lens/perspective distortion correction in PS I will look into PTLens as well. Sometimes I like the distortion in an image of architecture but other times it does need straightening out. Thanks again
I always enjoy images that have perspective created by converging lines combined with repetitive objects that reduce in size. Your image then adds another dimension with darkening colours and brilliant processing.
First of all, I love the blue tones- just gorgeous. The composition is perfectly matched to the subject and the perspective is impeccable. Awesome shot Taffy- fav!
Wow, this is so symmetrical. (is that the right way to say how this looks?) Love the pure perfection of this shot. Amazing detail, Taffy. FAV What do you teach?
@darsphotos Thanks for the fav, Darlene, as well as the kind comment! I teach courses of literacy teaching and learning. The one this semester is on literacy research conducted by and for teachers.
I like the how the irregular accents of red and green impact on the highly regular patterns of the ceiling and columns and make them seem even more regular. Fav!
instant fav
I agree with @ericdibosco about a b&w version...
