From Saturday's walk along the lake front...this tunnel connects the river walk to the harbor. Great mosaics line the walls. HDR on overdrive -- 3 bracketed images using Photomatix to combine.
Thanks for your thoughtful comments on the harbor reflections in color/b&w.
Great job with the hdr Taffy. The symmetry, the lines of lights and 3D effect are all great, as my eye follows the tunnel I feel like Alice disappearing down that hole, except this one's horizontal. I'm very impressed with the shot, and amazed there's no graffiti in sight!
Ahhh...a hidden gem I didn't know about! It's a must-see on one of my stop-overs! You certainly seem to know the nuances of Photomatix...every photo you share looks realistic and not overworked. Beautiful!
Really love this image, the wonderful quality of the light shows up superbly on black. I decided to google HDR and discovered the increased luminosity which explains my love for the image. Then I decided to look further to see if my camera could do it as I'm fascinated at the moment by the quality of the autumnal morning light. Help! Gamma curves; sensor resolution; photo metric calibration and spectral calibration. All of those words and phrases in the same sentence, I think I need to go back to bed!
@ceilidh Your comment really made me smile, Margaret! You can forget about all the technical gibberish that you have read. I see in your camera's specs that it can do auto bracketing, which is really what you need to be able to do (you'll probably just need to dig out the manual to see exactly how you should do it), and then you'll need software to process the 3 images - Photomatix is by far the best one to use; I think PS can also do it (and fairly good), but I don't have personal experience with PS.
@ceilidh Are you talking about doing a autumn leaf picture in HDR. That would be wonderful
Taffy, this is beautiful and see you are inspiring people to try new things. I want to learn to use bracketing on my camera. Think I'll have to read my instructions.
You present the city of Chicago in such a colorful and intriguing way. This picture makes me want to walk on through, have a look at the artwork on the walls and then check out what's in the sunlight on the other side.
Wonderful HDR work Taffy, this looks so natural I love the leading lines to the curve at the end and now I want to know what it is like round that bend.
