Chicago had a fairly large blizzard today so Annette @anwan and I decided there might be some good photo ops at Millennium Park. It was a lot of fun despite the wind and very wet snow falling constantly. This is the Chicago Cultural Center taken at the blue hour, shortly before Annette and I ended up waiting for a half hour for a bus and learned from Jim that the city had stopped all buses on Lake Shore Drive because of the high winds. It was good to get home at last!

Oh Taffy! What a different day you had than I did! Your photo is gorgeous...and *just the way* I enjoy seeing a blizzard! Thank you for doing the heavy lifting so I might enjoy this tonight!
Oh my goodness Taffy nothing stops you from getting a shot! It was worth getting cold and wet for! Great capture with that orange glow from the lights showing us the snow falling and already settling! Great pov! Fav!
Perhaps it's best that I can't venture out at all while heavily medicated! My snow shots were taken from the comfort of my house. Hope you had a hot toddy waiting for you! Stay safe and warm as this continues to rage around us!
You are really dedicated to photography if you go out in this weather. The busses may stop running, but you still keep going. This shot really tells a story.
You are very brave to go out taking pictures in weather like that. The shot is magnificent and - I suppose - worth all the trouble you went through. Fav.
Wonderful capture. Snow isn't easy to capture when it is falling. We had 3 inches 24th, 32 inches 28-29th, 3 inches 30th and 12 inches expected today. There are 15 ft piles in Wal-Mart's parking lot. So to me this just looks like a little snow flurry. LOL teasing.
You are one brave gal to trek out in the wind and snow on a photo shoot! The street lights give a lovely golden glow to the scene and highlight just how much snow is falling from the sky.
Brrr! Brave of you to venture out in that weather, but the lines of snow in the light are very effective. They lead the viewer right to the corner of the building. :)
Taken at the right spot and in dire conditions but a supreme result! In these conditions I do feel so lucky to a have a home to go to and be safe and warm! fav
@olivetreeann Heehee! Actually, the nickname comes from our politicians -- back in the 1890s when we were competing for the world's exposition against New York. The book, Devil and the White City, was based on that era.
Amazing snow storm capture!!! Love this blue hour shot in the middle of a winter storm!!! Definitely a fav!!! Can't believe you were out in this and then to find out that the buses are not running!!! Wow!!!
@lealady Some buses were running -- didn't want you to think we had no way home! We were lucky -- just had to wait a long time for one to get there. Thanks for the visit and kind comment and fav!
What a great shot, Taffy. I love how you showed the weather so well in this photo. How did you protect your camera and you and your friend from the weather? FAV
It's fairly heavy duty and kind of a pain to use -- does not work easily on a zoom lens which I was carrying. But, rather than getting my camera soaked, I decided to bear with it. We were all bundled up in layers with the last layer being waterproof stuff (I was actually wearing some ski pants!).

Really glad i'm not there in it though! :)
