Many thanks to all who commented and fav'd my photo taken from the balcony -- http://365project.org/taffy/365/2015-02-24 -- which led it to be on Top Twenty this week. I appreciate it!! And thank you as well for your encouraging words to go back out on it. For fun, using a borrowed fisheye lens, here it is -- the balcony where I stood to take the shot (taken from inside through the window). You can probably see why going out on it isn't particularly attractive! The view is great, but the balconies are pretty narrow, and it's a long way down!
I love this photo so much, Taffy. The fisheye sure makes it look more vast. It works so well with your balcony. I understand now, this balcony is narrow. I have vertigo and would not look down. I do love how clear the railing and city both are. FAV
Taffy, that is a fantastic view and your photograph compliments it perfectly. The use of the fish eye lens gives it a look and feel that any other lens just couldn't match. Fav!
The fisheye adds so much character to your "usual" cityscape. It's a best illustration how a different view can change a familiar scene. Very cool feel to it this way.
Oh my goodness - weak knees!! What a view!! I would be better if the balcony was solid so you couldn't see through. Brilliant image Taffy - love the fish eye effect!! Fav!
A fish-eye is often simply used for the unusual effect, but here you have really used it to great purpose, showing the whole context of where you and your (by now famous) balcony is in the bigger setting of Chicago. And you have done so with a very clever and well balanced composition. This one should be TT!
@ericdibosco Haha! I love your comment about my 'famous' balcony! Mmm...the two balconies are now competing -- the other one wants some attention but it's way too cold to go out there anytime soon, so I have an excuse!
Great shot.
