Thanks for your comments and favs on my bridge shot from our drive back from Beaver Island. Here is another image from the area just before the bridge, again using my 70-300 telephoto from the moving car. In this area of northwest Indiana, there are so many different styles of pylons that I find a weird beauty in the industrial area. And also a sense of the alien. Such a transition from rural to urban as we move from the super isolation of the island through farmlands to the big city.
More for the Mad Hatters geometry theme.
You have got them all looking white which could be the light - probably not painted white. Makes them stand out against the sky and I feel it has a great dramatic quality! fav
@maggiemae I used a solarization filter in Color Efex and then played with the elapsed time slider til it had this look. I love that filter but most of the time its too over the top to be useful. In a few situations, it works perfectly, though. Thanks for the visit!
Very cool- the processing makes the shot very eye-catching. The bold white really accentuates their shape. You managed to turn these ugly things into something very interesting and hauntingly beautiful.
The processing you used is terrific - you really turned this into something quite eye-catching. Love the white lines against the dark blue sky. Those lines are really so sharp. Quite a creative idea.
@lesip Thanks Leslie! No, you haven't missed it. The floors are done except for the final coat, and the top floor is painted. Still have painting on the main floor, all cabinet installation has to happen, along with lighting, fireplace(s) trim, stairway railings, carpet on steps, tile in entry, and so on. It could be 4 weeks out, but I'm not holding out hope at this point. Starting to wreck our summer now... :-(
When I am working my way down the feed at night and get tired I like to stop at someone's pictures I will remember to mark my place. I stopped at yours last night. And I did remember. I always want to capture these whether one by itself or a group. Love you capture here as so different from any of my attempts. Food for thought.
These make me think of the poem by Stephen Spender which I haven't read since high school but which I went and looked up on seeing these. I thought it apt as he talks about the rural vs modern scenes. Can't say I like them but they do make a striking shot
@kelly2@ceilidh I didn't know you two were sisters! I knew you each had a sister on 365, but hadn't connected you two consciously. So cool that you are both doing this, and that you both had such a great response to this shot! Loved the idea of being reminded of poetry with such an industrial image.
I shall try again. The iPad froze this time. Last night as I was looking for the poem online the system collapsed so I couldn't add the verse I wanted to or my fav. In a moment I'm going to post this as when it froze I lost what I'd written. I said then that I'd thought my problems with the system were because I was working on Moodle and Pebble Pad! That can't be it as I refuse to work this weekend and it still crashed! I'll post now and go and look for the verse I want and post it separately!
