Flying into NYC can be a treat with a window seat on a beautiful day - the view of lower Manhattan with Freedom Tower towering was pretty amazing. I was able to spend the day with a good friend wandering Soho and then going out to the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens. By dinner time, Junko had arrived -- 3 full days for photo fun!
Here's a shot of Junko's shot from our Staten Island Ferry ride: http://365project.org/jyokota/365/2015-10-11
Barely time to download and post...Apologies in advance as I am fairly sure I won't be able to respond/comment until I'm home at the end of the week.
Wow what a wonderful capture! How exciting to have a few days with Junko in NYC! I love it there! Looking forward to seeing your pics! I see you have a new lens. I was going to talk to you about lenses and camera bags. When you get home. Enjoy! Fav!
They must have cleaned the window more recently than my last attempt at a shot through the window. Nice composition and clarity. Are you enroute to the Smokey's?
@pamknowler Thanks Pam! I sent your note to Junko who knows Canon lenses and I don't. But I'll think generally about range of lenses and send you some ideas.
@jgpittenger Not yet...this is a RT New York visit. Smokey's aren't til the end of this month. Have been taking hundreds of photos so am snowed under, photographically!
@golftragic NYC is actually 5 boroughs, consisting of islands like Manhattan (lined by the East River, Hudson River) and Staten Island, and then areas further north. There are beautiful bridges at regular intervals. Then, as you head further east, there's Long Island, bordered by the Long Island Sound and the ocean in some areas. Water water everywhere! We'd need a New Yorker to explain it all more accurately, though.
@taffy Thank you for that interesting information Taffy. The whole place sounds (and looks) rather fascinating, not to mention rich in photographic opportunities.
@golftragic Yeah, it was pretty amazing. Quite a high standard to set for photowalks...and even feeling guilty as a Chicagoan saying that! But the Cubs won tonight so feeling good about my hometown even here!
Great window shot!
