I am back in Chicago after a wonderful photo trip that I'd highly recommend. The Smoky Mountains National Park has such variety that anyone could easily spend a week or more there several times and not repeat their photos. I worked on this one today as a change from the bigger vistas in other shots. There's tons of opportunity for macro and other general closeups as well. I'm so impressed with the park, and the great time we had there together!
I appreciate all your wonderful comments and the numbers of you who we felt were along for the ride with us!

@thirdjoe@jyokota Junko and I will be there the week after Thanksgiving, though I don't think we overlap by much. I'm arriving late Tuesday night and leaving Saturday afternoon. I'd love to get together...but it isn't San Diego, it's in Carlsbad, which I think is about an hour away. I know we fly into and out of SD. I think Junko is in sometime Friday and then stays through the weekend. If you are around then and Carlsbad isn't inconvenient, let me know as I will have a better sense of my schedule in the next week or so.
@taffy Carlsbad isn't to far, only about 20 minutes away. It would be great to meet you and take some shots. We can work the details out as the time gets closer!
@thirdjoe Fantastic!! I'll tag you and send you my email/cell once I have a better sense of which days (morning or evening light I assume) work best. Jim will be with me too so I want to work around his schedule. I have a friend/former student who has been doing great stuff with her Nikon 7100 and may want to come along with us.
@redy4et That would be terrific. @thirdjoe Joe also is up for meeting. I get in late Tuesday night after T'giving and leave Saturday afternoon. I'm working out meetings/dinners, etc (Jim and I will both be there) with his schedule and mine, and will let you know my 'windows' where there is also reasonable light. I'm not planning to go to anything on Saturday morning and our flight isn't until 3:05, so maybe doing something then if nothing at night can work out would be a backup. See Junko's note above...I just checked my calendar and so far I'm open Friday after 2:00 or so. I could rearrange other things in the morning as well to make this work. That would be great if we could all do it. Junko, I think Fenice would want to go too -- she's been doing great stuff with her 7100, especially after her Australia trip, and if she's not on the program, I was thinking of asking her as I'd like her to get involved in 365 too (she knows about it but thinks she isn't good enough yet). Also, if Susan F-R is there, I was going to see if she would be interested.
You girls sound like you were having such an amazing time together at the Smokey Mountains, and I am so sorry I will be missing you when Taffy and Junko are in Carlsbad together! Maybe some other time! Joe @thirdjoe and Elizabeth @redy4et, I hope you can make it for a meetup; I will be there with you all in spirit!
