Thinking of Happier Times

Whose happier times? Only a Downton Abbey addict would know...
The Driehaus Museum - http://www.driehausmuseum.org/ - is the perfect place for a display of costumes from the television drama/soap opera as it's one of the few remaining mansions from the turn of last century, situated among towering skyscrapers and just off the Magnificent Mile (posh shopping street called Michigan Avenue).
I thought it would work the faceless portrait theme this week too.
Well its a good thought and process but the detail in these costumes needs lots of colour! I loved this programme for that detail!

@maggiemae I agree! It was so much fun to see the costumes and remember the scenes where they had been worn. And for several, they had large photographs of the actors in costume on their set. I'll post in extras at some point -- getting a bit tired of only b&w, but not enough time today for more than one post. It was amazing how memorable the clothing is -- just seeing an outfit would bring back a storyline or specific event. Quite fun!

Lovely capture and yes Downton Abbey was worth watching just for the costumes and Maggie Smith's dry comments! Loved it! Great image.

The costumes look great and the setting behind really suits them.

I did a b&w February last year and found it tedious towards the end, but good for me as I don't do B&W. I like the stark contrasts here.

Fun! Never watched it funnily though am usually a fan of costume dramas. Have visited the idyllic Cotswold village of Bampton though where some of it was filmed.

Headless portraits.... Now that's a new idea!!
