These towers, built in the 1960s, used to be the tallest residential structure in Chicago. But no more, of course. They are a distinctive part of the skyline along the river and just recently achieved historical landmark status. You can see the top of the House of Blues below. I thought it was intriguing to have all these different shapes and textures. You can see the scene from a different perspective in Andie's album: http://365project.org/ukandie1/365/2016-02-21
Thank you for your wonderful comments and favs on yesterday's river post. It was one of my favorites from the day as well.
I love the dizzying height of the once tallest residential buildings in Chicago plus all the shapes and lines in this- and the black and white which gives it the perfect gritty city feel. Fav
Please don't laugh - but as soon as I saw the middle tower I imagined it was a display of sunglasses. You have a wonderful pov in this shot which makes the whole picture very impressive. Fav.
Wow and you really don't notice it's a car garage till I looked at Andie's picture. Very unusual . Wonder can you go to the top and get a picture from up there or is it a private garage? Maybe it's not a garage ?
Oh me, oh my, what fabulous buildings these ones are. I can see why they're called the Corn Cobs. The way you've positioned the strong lines on the various buildings makes for a great deal of interest and contrast.
Very cool archetiture.
I love it.
And the capture is brilliant!
