Butterfly 1

I did a meetup today at a local nature center which has quite a nice butterfly section. We ended up spending 2 hours there, including watching them release a group of new butterflies. Definitely a new 'go to' place on dull days! I have enough images to work on butterflies for another month!
Thank you for your visits and comments for my bird in flight and the skateboarder! Looking forward to visiting your posts now.
nice..fav

I try to shoot them outside but they don't like me. I am told you have to shoot them in the mornings when it is colder. Nice shot!

Oh this works wonderfully. I look forward to seeing lots more. How do they keep it warm enough on Chicago winter days to have the butterflies flying? Here they are only open in the summer
March 28th, 2016
@jgpittenger All temperature controlled. We were all really hot by the end of the 2 hours there -- not only heat, but mist for humidity. I don't know what I would have done if I'd had winter coat on!

Was this at the nature building across from the LP zoo? I recall a wonderful butterfly exhibit there in the past! Would love to go again with the grandkids! Your photo is wonderful, which is why I'm drawn to return, obviously! Love the post processing and light hand with the textural overlay! Very nice!

Gorgeous!
March 28th, 2016
@ukandie1 That's where I took these. I'd never been there before -- it's quite cool! Lots of different butterlies inside.
March 28th, 2016
I went to a butterfly conservatory previously and yes, you get hot! The moisture level was crazy and my lens kept fogging up. Seems each conservatory has the same type of butterflies since I saw this one as well. :)
March 28th, 2016
Gorgeous translucency!
March 29th, 2016
Butterflies are so much fun to photograph in a Butterfly house! Beautiful shot!

@Weezilou Yes, that's exactly where I took the shots. It's called the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum. Right in the middle of LP

@taffy TA Da! Love that place! Couldn't recall the name, but have visited there with Heather and Bodhi several times!

Great image, beautifully processed. Did you use PS for the textures?
March 29th, 2016
@genealogygenie I used Topaz Textures. I think you can also do this with textures, but I just don't know how to do it.
March 29th, 2016
Kim
@taffy Thanks! I have so much to learn about post-processing, but really love the way this turned out.

March 29th, 2016
Lovely capture and the texture is great! :)
March 29th, 2016
The processing really enhances the beautiful butterfly.
March 30th, 2016
@onewing What I learned is a higher ISO and faster shutter speed, in an enclosed place, with a macro, and with 2 hours to photograph, makes a big difference!
March 30th, 2016
Fabulous focus and I like the texture you've used. I would love to be able to go to a place like this and photograph the butterflies. We have some wonderful butterflies here at the moment but they never stay still long enough.
March 30th, 2016
Wonderful shot and processing.
April 1st, 2016
Really love how this came out with the texture.
