I did a meetup today at a local nature center which has quite a nice butterfly section. We ended up spending 2 hours there, including watching them release a group of new butterflies. Definitely a new 'go to' place on dull days! I have enough images to work on butterflies for another month!
Thank you for your visits and comments for my bird in flight and the skateboarder! Looking forward to visiting your posts now.
Oh this works wonderfully. I look forward to seeing lots more. How do they keep it warm enough on Chicago winter days to have the butterflies flying? Here they are only open in the summer
@jgpittenger All temperature controlled. We were all really hot by the end of the 2 hours there -- not only heat, but mist for humidity. I don't know what I would have done if I'd had winter coat on!
I love the ethereal feel of this gorgeous image. I can imagine how much fun it was to see all of those beautiful butterflies. Fantastic processing here, and I look forward to seeing some of your other butterfly shots!
Was this at the nature building across from the LP zoo? I recall a wonderful butterfly exhibit there in the past! Would love to go again with the grandkids! Your photo is wonderful, which is why I'm drawn to return, obviously! Love the post processing and light hand with the textural overlay! Very nice!
I went to a butterfly conservatory previously and yes, you get hot! The moisture level was crazy and my lens kept fogging up. Seems each conservatory has the same type of butterflies since I saw this one as well. :)
@onewing What I learned is a higher ISO and faster shutter speed, in an enclosed place, with a macro, and with 2 hours to photograph, makes a big difference!
Fabulous focus and I like the texture you've used. I would love to be able to go to a place like this and photograph the butterflies. We have some wonderful butterflies here at the moment but they never stay still long enough.
