We are in Cannes on the periphery of the Film Festival. Despite being surrounded by glitz and glamour, I'm drawn to the older parts of town and the harbor. This was the view as the sun set, looking sort of southwest. Just to the left of this image, the harbor section held more humongous yachts than I would ever have imagined, parked tightly next to each other along the pier, ready to entertain the elite.
For fun at the bus depot, see extras album post: https://365project.org/taffy/the-also-ran-ph/2017-05-19
Internet is quite unstable and unpredictable. Thanking you for your visits as I'm guessing commenting will be sporadic for a bit.
@golftragic Can't help but think of all that could be funded instead of the excesses here, and wondering (seeing all the boats registered in tax shelter countries) of the funds that rightly belong elsewhere. Doesn't mean I wouldn't have love to be on one of these yachts!!
@taffy Totally agree with your thoughts on conspicuous consumption, gross and growing inequality in and between nations is very worrying. I'll pass on the boat though, I get awfully seasick, can I have a red sports car instead please?
Such a beautiful photo in low light. Re the excesses you mention, there is a lot in the world to make us unsettled these days. Nice to just reflect on a beautifully crafted photograph.
