It was a beautiful day today in Marseilles. We had a lovely lunch on the harbor area and then took the bus to the top of the city (2nd in size to Paris in France) where the Basilica Notre Dame sits. The views were spectacular - hard to capture as I only had Jim's P&S to use. This is of the main harbor area and old town - a wild maze of red roofs and waterways, and a huge Ferris Wheel at the end of the inlet.
We fly to London tomorrow to pick up our last leg home.
I really like the way that despite this having been taken from above (with the advantage of all those lovely red roofs) there are distinct bands of interest as the buildings go further back. My eyes keep delighting in those horizontal lines, each with a slightly different angle or curve..
A lovely, many layered photo. There is so much to see and this is just one part of that amazing city. Lovely photo, I dare say your husband's camera did a lovely job with this scene! Fav.
What a fantastic POV! Love all the roofs - wonderful colours in the image. Safe journey home Taffy. It looks like you have had a wonderful holiday! Great image even with a point and shoot! Fav!
What a density of buildings and a great view across the city. Presumably you're only in London for a stopover - or are you staying a day or two in England?
@dolphin We're only here for the layover. We had just enough time to meet a London friend for dinner, and are up at 4:30 a.m. to catch the early morning flight back to Chicago.
Great vantage point. I love all the red roofs of the buildings. It is such a busy city. The view from the wheel must be great too, great photo opportunities.
@dolphin You live in one of my favorite places, so it will happen, I'm sure! This is the last of the 'travel to avoid our housing situation' trips so I'm not traveling much til mid-Winter or spring, but will keep you posted for sure.
@yaorenliu Thanks for the visit/comment, as always! Yes, it's been an amazing year of travel. This is the last of those trips -- avoiding dealing with not being able to move into our condo because of the renters living in it that stayed an extra year. But almost at the end of that now!
lovely capture taffy. i've been much enjoying your french shots
and then the modern
