The bright sun streaming through the window created a huge shadow of a rather narrow lamp. I liked the juxtaposition of the two, though I wondered about cropping out the lamp and having just the shadow. In the end, I thought the lamp needed to be there -- wondering what others might think. This one is best on black.
Superb on black --in my mind ,you certainly need the narrow lamp with its fatter counterpart reflection to show the clarity and contrast between the two A lovely composition-- fav
It really is stunning. I love the two together and I wonder if the vase is all white with a shadow going down the middle or is it b and w? Ih, you have found a perfect play spot!!
@darylo Thanks Daryl! The lamp is actually a satin metal finish throughout. The light was so strong it created that line down the center for some reason.
I think both options would make good photos, though quite different. I like this image very much, the juxtaposition and contrasting black and white shapes are, to my mind, what makes this shot both appealing and intiguing.
Awesome on black. So sharp and contrasty. I know the shadow was right where it is but I find the place where the white of the lamp is over the shadow keeps drawing my eye. Well seen and captured for sure. I love how the shape changes in the shadow
How fabulous!! The sharp contrasts in colour and the parody of the fat from the thin. I just love this lucky creation! Definitely needs both to produce most thought.
I'm with @elkereturns as I was thinking the exact same thing! The way skinny women often think they look. In my case, I look like the shadow but am aiming for somewhere in between the shadow and the over-skinny vase!! I really like this image. Such a wonderful optical illusion. Having a good time with your mum?
I really love this Taffy. The lamp should stay in my opinion, I love the strong line of shadow on the narrow lamp. The two look so good together, and the curvey and jagged shape of the shadow along the bottom completes a fantastic artwork.
With the lamp, for sure. As others have said, the difference in the shape we see of the lamp and the shadow adds a lot to the interest of the photo. Fav!
(It wouldn't be fascinating without the lamp)
