A very rainy day so I returned to cleaning up my photo catalogue and hard drive. I came across images taken in 2010 in Montana, long before understanding RAW and Lightroom and processing. There were a number of promising 'snapshots' but they didn't rise to what I'd consider to be a composition. I had fun seeing what I could do with a few of the most promising and liked the layers in the mountains and reflections in this image.
Thanks for all the wonderful comments and favs on the Calder sculpture in the snow!

Mystery solved -- it is Lake McDonald
It's fun playing with old pictures, isn't it? I've been having a lot of fun doing "pre-loved" places this month. I like the shape of this but am most drawn by the band of brightness in the centre. Light? A beach?
I switched to colour and was immediately disappointed - much prefer this in black and white. Isn't it funny how our preferences all differ (and perhaps just as well). I love all the depth you have got through the shadow on the mountain slopes, and the texture you have in the reflections of the same.
Lovely to see both colour and black and white versions side by side so to speak. It is amazing how you get such a different feel between the two versions.
@helenhall Always so interesting to read different takes when it comes to color versus b&w. In fact, some of the comments helped me see value where I hadn't earlier. Thanks as always for the visit and thoughtful comment.
Interesting to compare them, I thought I'd prefer the colour but when I looked at them both I saw so much more detail in the b&w version, particularly in the mountains.
