The wildebeest is a gangly looking animal, but over time, they really grew on me. Despite literally thousands as far as the eye could see, nobly walking along as they headed north to warmer areas in the Serengeti for the spring calving, up close they had quite amusing personalities. It wasn't unusual for one to stop mid-march to stare at us in our vehicle.
A stunning capture of these unusual looking creatures Taffy! I have them living down the road from me, even the golden ones, but I can never get such a fabulous shot of them, Fav
@ludwigsdiana I'm so envious of your access to game preserves -- it must always be a treat when you get to do a game drive! Thanks for your kind words, as always!
What a great capture of these bizarre creatures. Nice to see that they don't spend all of their time being chased my lions and crocodiles, as National Geographic would have us believe. ;)
these ones look much skinnier than the ones we saw. Great capture with so much variation of tone and showing all the veins. These are the blue wildebeest.
They sure do have a unique look to them- curly horns and ears that stick out as they do. The legs look like they shouldn't hold them up! I like how you've caught this one's curiosity over you- it really connects us to the picture even though a wildebeest may not be something we see everyday.
Wonderful capture Taffy! I saw some of these strange-looking animals in South Africa but not in huge herds. I'd love to visit Tanzania to see the migration.
