Taken at the Ferry dock, where snakes like to sun. This snake appeared to be playing with this fish, swallowing it, tossing it around and dropping it in the water, then repeating, until finally he seemed to decide it was ready to gobble up. This is a juvenile water snake. They turn black when they are mature adults.
I'm still in the midst of photographing Baroque but it's been good to have some other photographs to work with now and then.
Wow what a capture of nature in the raw! You start off thinking itâs impossible for him to eat this fish but no he certainly can! Amazing series! Would this snake attack humans? I would be using my long lens I think! Lol!
@pamknowler This isn't dangerous to humans. I guess it could bite if scared by one, but it's not poisonous. We see them on the golf course at the pond, as well as around the harbor. Pretty common, actually.
@angelar@golftragic Yes, it's in the wild -- pretty common snake on the island, called a water snake. This is a younger one -- they are black when they become adults.
How long did you stayed there waiting for the snake to eat his "friend"?
