From the large clusters of monarchs now I'm only seeing the occasional one. I'm guessing they'll being gathering to start their migration shortly. I bought a waterproof camera (Olympus Tough-6) for an upcoming trip and this was from practicing it on the micro setting. Not bad, but not as sharp as a DSLR macro lens would be.
@caterina I was invited on a 10 day sail through the Channel Island National Park, off the coast of California, to photograph and talk photography. Pretty exciting!
@taffy You travel so much anyway. And Italy is not that far. Perhaps you could come with Junko and we can put together a nice group, with Domenico, Mona Francesca, Angelika,,,,lots of people
Wow, enjoy your trip! Great opportunity! I looked up the camera and based on your results you get a lot of bang for your buck!! Beautiful day, capture!!
I like my little Olympus p & s and have used it quite a bit with the same results. Not as sharp as my T3i but excellent for the kind of camera it is. I haven't experimented with it in the water though. But Jeff has bought and refurbished a canoe...
Beautiful shot! I missed a Monarch shot by 2 seconds the other day. Glad I can enjoy this one!
How are you liking the Tough 6? I am thinking of passing on my point and shoot to my grandson who really enjoyed using it this summer and upgrading what I carry around.
@olivetreeann I haven't used it enough to be sure, but so far am satisfied with what it can do and the different auto-settings. However, it's not at all up to the quality of my DSLR so in that sense I'll probably never be satisfied with a p&s. The real test comes in October with the sailing trip and the chance to use above and below water.
Thanks for the input! I'm uncertain which way I'll go- upgrade the p&s and give him mine or keep mine and find a less expensive one for him since he's only 9- although very interested in photography and takes excellent care of my camera when he uses it.
