From a few nights ago, opposite where NEOWISE was so faint as to be uninteresting. The light on the beach is above Nutmeg's grave which sits below a swing. She used to hang out there when we sat on the swing. And the sky was, well, amazing to see. I'm hooked on night sky photography!
I'm so glad you're hooked on night skies - the ones you've posted have been just spectacular and this is no exception. Like the little bit of lighting to this one.
Wow, what an amazing capture. I did the same thing one night while on the Neowise hunt and plan on going back again real soon to try some of those similar shots.
Wow your night sky shots are just amazing! But what a stunning sky! What a beautiful spot for Nutmeg’s grave! Wonderful place for you to sit with lovely Nutmeg memories!
You really have excelled yourself with this one! I must learn how to do night time photography of the sky. I have never yet managed to get a single star visible! This is a beauty.
@pdulis During this season when we are on Beaver Island it’s out the door and a brief walk down to the beach on our property. In the rest of the year in Chicago we are about a mile west of the lake.
Beautiful sky and other lights. I assume Nutmeg was a pet? It is neat that you have a grave. We have 40 acres in rural Alabama where we have been for almost 40 years. We have several pet graves, carefully marked.
@taffy Oh Taffy! That is so very special...and, Yes!, we have had several cats and dogs that we have had to say goodbye to. Those times are always sad, because these friends have, as you said, enriched our lives so much. Thank you for sharing this with me. At some time, I'll share it with my wife. She dearly loves our pets! Thank you, again! I'm glad you joined 365 and that I have found you as a "365 friend". :- )
@caterina When you are in the mountains, you could easily do this, with a tripod and an external shutter release, using the fastest/widest lens you have. It takes some trial and error to figure out the best settings for your camera -- that's the hardest part, plus just getting into the routine (like remembering to bring a headlamp, having camera ready on the tripod with the shutter release plugged in -- the stuff that's easy to do in the light, but hard in the dark -- and most important, using auto focus on a light point far away and then memorizing where that is on your focus -- then changing focus setting to manual. Put metering on full (not spot metering like you'd use for the moon). So, lots of little things, but none of them hard to do.
Not surprising when you see a dark sky like this lit up....so many stars in the sky that most of us would be amazed to see so many in their life time. I see skies like this in NZ & of course dark skies in the UK but this is exceptional
I hope to get some night skies at Assateague. Not sure if the 1/2 moon will make it too bright? Love your sky captures and will look at your setting to give me a starting point :-)
