I was going to post the last night of Chanukah but realized I'll be at the conference by then. So here's the 5th night. The earliest Chanukah has been in my lifetime, I think. The last time the first day of Chanukah was on Thanksgiving was 1888, then next time it's projected is 2070. So, I wasn't ready for it at all...have decided that other than lighting the candles, latkes, presents, and all the rest will have to wait til we're back from the conference. Without kids at home and a holiday that moves around the calendar anyway, it makes sense to wait on all but the candles.
Happy Hannukah and you are several steps ahead of me! It took me completely by surprise. Tonight was supposed to be latkes, but now that will be Tuesday. Cutting it close. Beautiful photo, fave!
@nanalisarocks Ha! Makes me feel better! We're likely to celebrate everything at the end of the month after conference, end of academic year, and vacation, and combine it with Christmas for Jim's side of the family. We all won't be together until the 28th! My menorah, BTW, was a present from Jim -- it's easily my favorite.
Happy Chanukah! I like how the candles are just a slightly different color from each other. All of the flames are the same shape and they all seem to glow! I viewed this large and it's even better!
Happy Chanukah Taffy! Your menorah is beautiful! Fav. We had our extended family celebration last night . I ate too many latkahs and sampled all three desserts -- couldn't get to sleep so I stayed up to look at photos

@redy4et Thanks Elizabeth! And Happy Chanukah to you as well! I'm missing the food we would have had if only I'd been ore organized! Jim's son made us homemade applesauce, but it's missing its latkes to go with it!
Wonderful shot Taffy - lovely candles with a beautiful glowing light. Happy Chanukah to you and I hope you enjoy your celebrations whenever you do them!! Your candle stand - is it a menorah? - is gorgeous. Do you light a new candle each day?
@pamknowler Thanks for the kind comment Pam! Yes, we start with the candle on the far right and light that one. On the first night, we use the candle to light one; second night, I light two with it; etc. So there's always one additional candle (the tallest one) beyond the number of days. Tonite seven candles will be lit -- match lights the first one, then that candle lights the 6 candles for the 6 nights of Chanukah.
@salemslot@angiec@redy4et Thanks Angie, Elizabeth, and Lisa! I really appreciate your comments and favs! I didn't really expect any comments at all so am thrilled with your response.
@friend2303 It's always appropriate! Especially since it moves around on the calendar and lasts 8 days -- it's often confusing. Thanks for the kind comments on the image.
