Going Nowhere by vignouse

Going Nowhere

Part of a disused rail-line at Gaël which originally joined St. Malo to Malestroit and was used principally for freight traffic. Around 50 km of the line have been converted to pedestrian green way - this section remains a long-term project.

Unsurprisingly, this views nicely on black.
Wonderful shot

Nice in B&W. Were you laying on the tracks!?

Looks great on black, as you say! What fun to have a small train and use this track for yourself? I am always dreaming of something like this!

@akirk I wasn't Amy but I was holding the camera about a foot off the track bed and using the swivelling rear screen to view, as you can do with your D5100.

@maggiemae There's a section of another line not far from us which is now privately owned and where you can hire a small four-wheel pedal rail-car to explore a section of the line!

Love the B&W and contrast to this image.

Great lines Richard.

Super lines, here. Lovely low POV, looking "up" at the weed, emphasizing the disuse of these tracks.

Most excellent - there's something about rail way lines...

most excellent indeed!! hope you didn't lie on those tracks for too long!!

Nice capture. There are some abandoned railways here that have been turned into bike/hiking trails.

This is great!!!! You are so talented! Love the POV!

Your choice of low POV works well to capture the growth and aged feeling of the tracks. I like all the textures.

Great shot. Love the processing in black & white.

Great pov and lovely in b&w.

Fantastic shot Richard. There is a very similar line in Alderney, which though still in use in summer, is more overgrown. The pic I took wasn't great but I'll try again next week now you've inspired me ;-))

@guernseysue Thanks Sue - this looked good in colour too with the various shades of pink granite in the track-bed but I left home with the express intention of photographing this line in B&W, so that is what I posted. Your 14mm should do the job nicely if you're looking for a similar PoV... good luck.

I like the little tuft of grass. The whole scene makes me think of childhood (and the general "go play on the tracks" school of parenting that has perhaps disappeared a bit)

I like the timeless sense of this shot --could be anywhere in the world!

Great POV Richard. If I'd got down to that level I'm not sure I could have got back up!
