NF-SOOC-2017 Day 9: Collégiale St Martin de Candes by vignouse

NF-SOOC-2017 Day 9: Collégiale St Martin de Candes

The Collégiale (think very grand Parish Church) at Candes-Saint-Martin in the Loire Valley is dedicated to the memory of St. Martin de Tours. The current church building was raised in 1175 by a group of monks who followed St, Martin's teaching. My picture shows the chapel dedicated to his memory and, if you look closely, you can read the date of his death recorded on the tombstone on the floor - 8 November 397.

This is Day 9 of my annual NF-Sooc-September challenge: a month of sooc pictures taken with a 50mm lens or its equivalent for crop-sensor cameras. You can read all about it here - https://365project.org/discuss/themes-competitions/30294/nf-sooc-september-2017

And finally, this is another image that views best on black.
It may be called candles, but I can't stop looking at the beautiful stained glass window.

@randystreat It's actually Candes Kathy and this was again was a balance between retaing detail in both the stained glass window and the chapel furnishings... I'm glad you like it.

A wonderful image. I have been in here but must say did not notice the date on that tombstone - how awesome.

Dramatic window especially with the low-key approach in the foreground.

I particularly like the soft, darker lighting of the area where the pews are, the highlight of the light on the edge of the row and how all of that makes the window stand out all the more. Beautiful.

Love the light on the pews. I don't think I have the technique to get a good shot like this SOOC. I owe you a fav... this might have qualified so I will dig deep for another one soon!
