in the Alain Fromy Ensemble - 40 musicians, 25 chorists and 4 soloists - who opened the 2018 concert season at Paimpont Abbey.
I know from previous years that it's difficult if not impossible to get a decent picture of the whole orchestra so I tend to concentrate on individual members.
The lighting in this is perfect. I've also noticed at concerts that a large group shot is impossible, and sometimes even a section. I like the sense of intense concentration that you've conveyed with this choice.
Beautiful image. Great that you've chosen a profile view so that the cello forms a clean diagonal across the frame, and the muted background tones perfectly complement the tones of the main subject
I do the same when I photograph orchestras. Terribly difficult to get a good group shot of the whole thing. This is lovely. I am enjoying the way the light brings out the richness of the cello varnish.
@quietpurplehaze Well I was there as sacristan of the Abbey to ensure that they had everything they needed... and the orchestra leader asked if I would send him some photos as he didn't have any of the orchestra.
Very nice, Richard!
