For over 300 years Paimpont's prosperity was based on iron mining and forging. The village of Les Forges is now a Heritage Site; you can just see some of the buildings at the right of this image. The outfall of this large pond fed the machinery used to forge and shape what was a very high-quality product.
Today, the area is much more tranquil!

The waves on the water really draw the eye all the way to the back of the lake.
